Gifts & Interests
We usually describe this area of ministry as “Time & Talents”–how do we want to contribute our time and talents to the church. It’s a good descriptor that generally works well! So why does St. Andrew use the language of “Gifts & Interests”? For our congregation, it is a helpful descriptor to remind us that all that we have, and all that we are, belongs to God. God has gifted us with life and a variety of skills and resources, and in turn calls us to share them with the Church. Then, by focusing on what areas of church and life we have interests in, we no longer emphasize the “talent” portion of our gifts, but those things that are life-giving and joyful for us to share in and with others.
