Liturgical Drama: “The Inconvenience Store”

Sunday December 13, 2015

8:30 & 10:45 AM

It’s 3 A.M. at a convenient store in the city the night of the recent Paris shooting. Gary is waiting in line when a man of Middle Eastern decent is approached and threatened by two men.  All he wanted to do was buy a diet Snapple… and now this. Gary must quickly decide what he should do.  Stand by and mind his own business? Physically step in and possibly be injured?

In our gospel reading, John the Baptist tells us to “Bear fruits worthy of repentance” and that “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise”.  In our drama, Gary is asked to take a great risk and make a sacrifice for someone in need.  What will he do?  What would you do?

This challenging drama will be performed as a monologue by John Kelly, directed by Wendi Kelly with technical support from Tom Beyer.  It is based on an actual incident and adapted from a blog entry by Gary Reloj.

We hope you will join us!

Thanks to all who have expressed interest in our production of A Christmas Carol.  There will be no production for 2015, but watch for other productions and liturgical dramas in 2016!  We wish you a Merry Christmas and may God bless us all, everyone.

St. Andrew Beginnings Drama Team  will be putting on their 7th Annual production of “A Christmas Carol” on December 4,5 & 6. 2014.

As people arrive for the show, they will be welcomed into a Dickens Village including holiday lighting, street scenes and 19th century Christmas music.  The sanctuary will be magically transformed into a theater space where the sites of 19th Century London will come to life.

The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future will carry Scrooge, along with our audiences, through a story of transformation that brings hope to all during our Advent Season.

This year’s production will not only bring a wonderful message of the season to our cast, crew and audience, it will also raise money for the High School Work Camp trip this summer, Head to Heart and C.O.O.L. Food Pantry.
